Massage – comes from the Greek word “massō” which literally means “to rumple.”

Massage has long been used for the purpose of non-drug prevention and treatment of diseases. Over thousands of years, massage methods and techniques have been constantly improved. Therefore, as time passes, it has not only not lost its importance, but, on the contrary, it is constantly confirming its effectiveness, widely applied throughout the world.

Massage is a scientifically sound, proven long-term practice, the most physiological for the human body health remedy. It is used both for preventive purposes – for general strengthening of the body, and in various fields of medicine: surgery, orthopedics, gynecology, therapy, neurology, etc.

Massage definition in medicine is a uniform mechanical irritation of human body areas, produced either by the hand of a masseur or by special massage devices like massage chairs or manual massagers.

Despite this determination, the effect of massage on the human body cannot be seen simply as a mechanical effect on the body. It is a complex physiological process in which the central nervous system plays a leading role.

Medical massage therapy acts on various areas of the human body, which contributes to the tide of blood to them, and as a result – improves the nutrition of tissues with nutrients, relaxing or, on the contrary, leads to the tone of muscle.
Massage (from the French massage “friction of kneading”) is a set of techniques of mechanical and reflex action on tissues, muscles and organs in the form of friction, pressure, vibration carried out directly on the surface of the human body, both by hands and special devices through air, water or other medium in order to achieve a therapeutic effec.

In addition to mechanical effects, various aromatic and flavouring oils, drug ointments, gels and other preparations, as well as temperature effects (e.g. cryomassage) are used to enhance the effect.

External irritations are perceived by skin and muscle receptors, reflex points, and transmitted to the central nervous system. Pulse flow, depending on the applied technique and body massage techniques, can stimulate and increase the tone of the central nervous system, or, on the contrary, have a braking and relaxing effect on it, which has a positive regulatory effect on the activity of all physiological systems of the body.
